LIBR collaborates with companies and institutes interested in our expertise in yeast, fermentation, flavor, natural aroma's, flocculation and cellular research, hops, malting, high tech aroma analysis in complex solutions like wort, brewhouse technology, brewing and optimizing production processes and industrial yeasts. Collaborations and contracts vary from very small (e.g. purchase or licencing of particular yeast strains from our collection of more than 10,000 different yeasts) to large-scale contract research collaborations.

LIBR is discrete. To protect any nonpublic business information, we restrict access to or by third parties using a clear non disclosure agreement (NDA) or confidential disclosure agreement (CDA).

LIBR focuses on fundamental and applied projects and research that can lead to industrial applications and respond to the need for increased productivity, quality and innovation of the brewing industry. We can rely on continuous support of the KU Leuven Department of Knowledge and Technology Transfer to build strategic alliances that assist in the protection and licensing of intellectual property and valorization of new technologies.

By selecting and crossing different yeast strains we made a superior yeast strain with the exact properties desired by the kale ridders brewery for production of 'Tumulus 800' beer (a 6% Wheat Ale Blond).

We can produce prototype beers for evaluation and design and develop the process needed to produce your new beer, including selecting a suitable yeast strain, malt, adjuncts, hops and process. The combination of a created superior yeast strain with an exquisite aroma profile and innovative brewing technology led to the development of 'Surplus' beer (a fruity 6% Blonde).
